This post really sums up the loss we have experienced due the loss of Vox. I have blatantly copied and pasted this from http://joie.vox.com/
Things I’ve Loathed:
- Spam and the spamming spammers who’ve spammed us—and significantly, the lack of an effective way to manage or report it.
- Ken, King of Trolls, so notorious and universally loathed that groups comprising people who’ve blocked him began to form.
- The painfully slow dissolution of Six Apart’s interest in Vox, best reflected in the quantity and quality of Team Vox’s posts over the last two years (as opposed to the two years previous).
- The gradual exodus of so many of my favorite neighbors, some of whom simply moved on to more future-safe services and some of whom, I regret to say, disappeared entirely, leaving no trace of how to find them again.
Things I’ve Loved:
- My neighbors.
- A free blogging service that was easy to use and reliable, with excellent options for privacy restrictions and a more grown-up user base than its competitors.
- My neighbors.
- The amazing content people posted, from light-hearted silliness to serious discussions of current events—and of course, responses to QotD and the Vox Hunt!
- My neighbors.
- The whole concept of a “neighborhood,” which I love much more than the concept of “following” someone a la Twitter, Tumblr, or other blogging services.
- Did I mention?: my neighbours.
