Update

Without putting frills upon events, things are not so good at the KoA household.

My father turned 80 last February, we all went up as a family to celebrate, each sibling and each nephew and niece turned up, which was a wonderful thing even for me to see, but for my dad it was an incredible night.

Since that evening, he had a small corrective operation to alleviate his glaucoma, but upon coming home he didn’t fare so well, he ended up contracting pneumonia and had to be hospitalised again. Draining his lungs found the dreaded cancer, and today it has been confirmed that it’s very aggressive and nothing can be done to help him. He’s being prepped to come home as I understand and I’ll be travelling up this weekend to see him on Fathers Day.

The prognosis is terrible as I gather, but being the youngest and furthest away, I expect a lot is hidden from me to stop me worrying, but when you hear cracking voices on the end of the phone and an usually pragmatic mother admitting time is short, you know things are serious.
